Lindsay A. Sabatino is assistant professor of English and director of the writing center at Wagner College. Her research and pedagogical interests focus on multimodal composition, digital literacies, the relocation of writing centers into libraries, online tutoring, writing studio spaces, and faculty development. She has published in Computers and Composition, Writing Lab Newsletter, The Peer Review, and Praxis.
Brian Fallon is associate professor and founding director of the Writing & Speaking Studio at the Fashion Institute of Technology, SUNY. His career has focused on promoting the collaborative learning practices of peer tutors, especially through his work with the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing. He is a recipient of the Ron Maxwell Award, has published in The Writing Center Journal, and has contributed to The Oxford Guide for Writing Tutors.

Contributors 

​Patrick Anderson is a visiting professor of philosophy at Grand Valley State University. He earned his MA in English and his PhD in Philosophy from Texas A&M University, where he was a graduate writing consultant at the Texas A&M University Writing Center. In addition to his primary research in social-political philosophy, he also holds a graduate certificate in film and media studies and has published in the Quarterly Review of Film and Video.

Shawn Apostel is assistant professor of communication at Bellarmine University. His research interests include teaching with technology, digital ethos, e-waste reduction, learning space design, and technical and visual communication. His work has been published by IGI Global, the CCDigital Press, Lexington Books, the New Forums Press, Kairos, and Computers and Composition Online.

Jarrod Barben received his bachelor’s degree in Writing and Rhetoric at the University of Utah and is a Lab Coordinator for the Salt Lake Community College Student Writing & Reading Center and the English department’s Online Plus Writing Fellows Program.

Brandy Ball Blake is the director of the Naugle Communication Center at Georgia Tech, and has also served as the professional and technical communication coordinator at the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering. In these roles, she has worked extensively to develop initiatives that help students improve communication.

Sarah Blazer is assistant professor and associate director of the Writing & Speaking Studio at the Fashion Institute of Technology, SUNY. Her pedagogical and research interests center on developing and advancing humane, inclusive, and effective tutoring and teaching pedagogies through writing center staff education and college-wide outreach and collaboration. Her work has been published in The Writing Center Journal, College English, and the TESOL Encyclopedia of English Language Teaching

Brenta Blevins is assistant professor of writing studies and digital studies at the University of Mary Washington. She teaches and researches multimodality/multiliteracy, digital and online pedagogy, and the literacy and rhetoric of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR). Her publications have addressed multiliteracy centers, multimodality, and digital media and pedagogy.

Russell Carpenter is executive director of the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity and associate professor of English at Eastern Kentucky University. Recent books include Writing Studio Pedagogy and Sustainable Learning Spaces. He is editor of the Journal of Faculty Development.

Florence Davies is an administrator at Texas A&M University Writing Center. She received her MFA in Writing and Literature from Stony Brook University. She is currently working on her second novel for young adults, centered on the coming-of-age experiences of black girls and their mental health. She can be found on Twitter as @thewriterflo.

Kate Flom Derrick is the senior program coordinator for the Searle Center for Advancing Learning and Teaching graduate and postdoctoral program at Northwestern University. She was a peer tutor and staff member at DePaul’s University Center for Writing-based Learning for nine years. She lives in Chicago with her husband, daughter, and cats.

Lauri Dietz is the associate director for Faculty Support & Pedagogy at Stanford University and former director of the University Center for Writing-based Learning at DePaul University. She has published and presented on peer writing tutor professional development, ePortfolios, undergraduate research in the humanities, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Clint Gardner is the program manager of College Writing and Reading Centers at Salt Lake Community College (SLCC). His writing center research includes the development of online writing tutoring practices and systems, as well as the impact of working as a peer writing consultant in community college writing centers.

Karen Head is executive director of the Naugle Communication Center and associate chair and associate professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Culture at Georgia Tech. Her book Disrupt This!: MOOCs and the Promises of Technology describes the pressure on professors to embrace new technologies in the STEM era.

Alyse Knorr is assistant professor of English at Regis University and editor of Switchback Books. She is the author of three poetry collections, one nonfiction book, and three poetry chapbooks. She received her MFA from George Mason University, where she co-founded Gazing Grain Press.

Jarret Krone is an instructor of rhetoric and writing at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. His publications and research interests focus on digital rhetoric, digital pedagogy, writing and multiliteracy center studies, and peer-to-peer mentorship.

Sohui Lee is assistant professor and faculty director of the Writing and Multiliteracy Center at California State University Channel Islands. Coeditor of the Routledge Reader on Writing Centers and New Media, she has published extensively on multiliteracy centers, multimodal composition, and creativity (The Writing Center Journal, WLN, Praxis, Computers and Composition).

Joe McCormick, former developer of the Salt Lake Community College Student Writing Center online tutoring system, holds an MA in teaching English as a second language for the University of Durham (UK) and now works in Florida as a software developer.

Courtnie Morin is an instructor at Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky, where she teaches first-year composition, rhetoric, and applied creative-teaching courses. Courtnie’s publications focus on pedagogical best practices for both the classroom and writing center.

Alice Johnston Myatt is assistant professor in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric at the University of Mississippi, where she teaches writing and works with the university’s writing centers. Her research includes online tutoring and teaching environments, tutor education, and intersections of writing program and writing center administration.

Molly Schoen is the visual resources curator at the Fashion Institute of Technology, SUNY. In this position, she assists history of art faculty with their image, research, and technology needs; she also promotes visual-literacy concepts throughout campus.

James C.W. Truman is assistant director of university writing and is responsible for the Miller Writing Center at Auburn University. As part of a university-wide initiative, he works with students and faculty to enhance the culture of writing and writing instruction across campus. He received his PhD in English from UNC Chapel Hill.
